this is a question my tcher gave me: NO2 has an unpaired electron on its Nitrogen atom. suggest its shape? but shoudnt it be NO2-?

NO2 is nitrogen dioxide, so it's correct I guess. Because of the unpaired electron, it technically is a radical.
NO2- is a nitrite ion

NO2 (the nasty brown gas) and NO2- (the nitrite ion) both exist. I think you are being asked to think about what will happen to VSEPR reasoning when you have less than a full pair. A good question!
