I'm an English teacher and I spend the whole day checking students' notebooks for puntuaction, spelling, grammar, usage and all of that. I automatically use correct punctuation, but when I'm online, I'm just here to have fun. I don't always think about where to put a comma, period or capital letter.

Only on business correspondence, or when helping someone write something. Usually, I write the way I speak. I take poetic license, so to speak. That includes punctuation.

Yes, of course. I really find no point in using incorrect punctuation.

Mostly. It comes natural to me through my years of school. I think a lot of people actually look down upon people who use correct grammar and punctuation anymore. Some kind of anti-intellectual thing, I dunno. There's absolutely nothing wrong with attempting to use the English language correctly, attempting being the key word. I doubt any of us are master linguists and grammarians.

I try to even when online. I'm kind of like Monk. Though, it's impossible for me to get it right all the time--especially with periods (I used two hyphens rather than a dash; my keyboard doesn't have dash on it). I'm not bothered, though, when others don't get it right so long as I know what they're trying to say.

I think I do. And I will always try to make sure that I do to the best of my ability and knowledge.
It can be rather irritating when people just "don't care" anymore. What ever happen to some pride in your language and your education?
