I am confused now. When I put my AMD system together there was a driver for the CPU. Intel doesn't need one? This is on win xp pro. came with my motherboard drivers and software. I know this is not an answer, and I am not running in windows now to see the driver. it is in my add and remove programs list. Maybe just for AMD? Top link AMD cpu drivers, bottom Intel. Intel no cpu drivers.

No, I don't think CPUs need drivers. The motherboard sometimes needs a driver, though.

Hi. Not usually but you can go to Intel's website and see if a new driver is accessible.

No. The computer needs an operating system to manage its free space and tasking. The machine will prefer the original OS that was used, so you may have to slick the hard drive to start over.

no you don't just plug it in onto the correct motherboard slot, add ram and other internal components and your os will automatically detect it. however, for smooth free operation, a reinstallation of the os is recommended.
