i live in dfw and im going back to CA for school. the semester starts january 7th and i never asked what the move in date for the dorm rooms are, what day should i leave? the 2nd? and get there on the 3rd.? which will give me a few days to shop for what i need and go down to visit some family n friends down in LA..but what is the normal move in date for dorms...as far as how many days before the semester starts should u move in

It's completely up to your school. Call and ask. Are you a quick shopper? I'd leave ahead a good while before to be prepared for any delays.

It is NOT completely up to you - it is up to your university. Most don't let people live in the dorms over longer breaks, so this depends on when they say the break is over. Usually it would be around the 5th if school starts on the 7th.

At my school, Move in day is the day before classes start.
