OK, let me get this straight. It turns over, but won't light up, yes? Some things to check. You may have toasted the internals enough to bugger your compression. Do you smell fuel when it turns over? Look at the oil and smell it. Do you smell fuel in the oil? Does the oil feel "funny"? (Hard to describe this part in writing. Does it feel slippery like "good" oil is what I'm trying to get at. I've been "feeling" my oil when I check the level for about 30 years. You can tell the difference.)
And of course, the plug could be the culprit. Pull the plug wire and see if you get spark when you try to start it. Hold the wire boot a short distance from the top of the plug and see if you get a spark. If you do, pull the plug and see if you managed to gunk up the gap or fry the electrode. Forgot to mention this. If you get no spark you could just have, by coincidence, cooked the coil. That didn't happen because you forgot the mix. Just an unlucky break.
If the motor turns over without any strange noises it's probably a cheap fix either way. Just don't keep crankin' it until you find out the root cause of the problem. One thing to try if you pull the spark plug is to pour some oil in through the plug hole. Use something heavy like "motor honey". That will help build up compression if it's bad rings for a short time. And once you do get it started again change the oil right away. If you are not in a very cold climate, go with something heavier than you normally use.
If you are lucky, Santa willl have been good to you. Take care, ride safe. Ciao!

Probably scored the cylinder walls up pretty good. Problem with 2 stokes if they don't have good compression they won't run where as a 4 stroke will but poorly and smoke like crazy.
As stated before 2 stroke engines are easy to work on. You'll probably need a new piston and ring set, also you'll have the get the cylinder rebored.

Check the plug - it should have a tan color on the insulator. If it is black and gunky then change it or have it reconditioned.
Naturally you should dump the oil and replace it with the proper type which will burn with the fuel rather than plugging everything up.

Chances are you stuck the rings and maybe screwed up the cylinder.
Great thing about two strokes are the head comes off real easy and the piston and cylinder are easy to replace.
Lift off the cylinder and check things out.
Good luck!

5 minutes?
5 seconds is all you need sometimes to kill a stroker engine. Also, its nearly 16 years old.
I reckon its seized.
Sorry. Happy Xmas!

last time I saw that happen, the guy cracked his piston and scored the cylinder up pretty badly.

5 minutes is all it would take to mess up that motor without oil.
