If there is any conscious force responsible for creating and determining the fate of the living, "God", or whatever there may be, it's up to that conscious force to decide. Since, however, we don't know if such a force exists, let alone what its intentions may be, we can only conclude that for all effective purposes, life has no inherent purpose, and purpose must be defined and gauged by each individual. The purpose of my life, to summarize, is to make the most of the experience, and enjoy it while it lasts.

The first answerer makes the argument that God may exist but God has not told us our mission so we just forget about God (and go off and do what we want to do).

I think the more logical answer is that God put into our human nature an intense need for purpose in order to point us to seek Him. Seeking God is our purpose.

The purpose of life is blank, think of a book without words. Yes, like a diary or "journal". Everyday our lives are written in those pages. It is a book, which will never be read. Thank God and our Dark Savior and no, I don't mean a black Jesus. I am referring to the God of Pure Light.

We are all but passengers on the great freight train of existence. If we're lucky, we won't derail or get blown up in a fiery explosion, and the dining car will remain open 24/7 AND it will have a fully stocked bar.

And in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It is the life in your years.

I don't think there is one. At least not one that's outside of ourselves. It's inner. What turns your crank? What makes you happy? What does it for you? If you know these things you don't need an outside reason. Your inner reasons will be enough.
