When I was younger, my mom would wake me up (I've always been a late sleeper!) and tell me it's Christmas. We'd open presents then stockings, then eat.
Now that I'm older, we wait around for family to come over and open gifts all together. After that, we usually eat finger food and wait for an early dinner.

We get up at about 5, open presents and then have breakfast. We then take a little nap and go to my mom's for Christmas dinner. It was a lot more fun when my dad was alive. All of my brothers and sisters (nine of us) would meet at mom and dad's house by no later than 9 am. Some would even arrive by 7! Then we would all exchange gifts, sons, daughters, in laws and grandchildren! Then we would have a huge dinner and listen to carols. It was the best! My dad was Mr. Christmas himself and no Christmas has compared to the ones we had when he was alive. I miss him all the time but most at Christmas.

When I was a kid, it was TORTURE! My sister and I would barely sleep the night before. I remember being up at 3 am playing board games quietly in one of our rooms. We weren't allowed to wake our parents until 7:00. Then we had to wait in the hall while my parents took their sweet time putting on robes, making coffee, getting the camera set up, etc. It was exquisitely painful! We were so anxious to see the living room and everything Santa had left for us. When we were finally allowed to come into the living room, my dad would play Santa and hand out presents one at a time. We opened our stockings last. We grew up in California with no relatives living close by, so it was always just the four of us. Now that I have a son of my own, we follow pretty much the same traditions...although I am usually the one begging *him* to get up in the morning rather than the other way around! LOL

I love this question!
This is the one day a year we allow the kids to come wake us up by jumping on us. Then stockings, presentsplay with presents, and then breakfast. Kids can't wait and neither can I.
After breakfast more putting toys and things together and playing.
Later appetizers and dinner.
Enjoy your Christmas!

When I was a kid, we waited on the rest of my family to show up at my Grandmother's. Then we ate. Waffles of every kind with anything you could want to go with them along with bacon and milk or juice. Then presents. Stockings were usually done Christmas Eve after Church.
