If you are unable to call through your phone company, there are many companies that will sell you a phone care, which you can use to call Mexico. The cheapest are about $.03 a minute. Google "prepaid International phone cards."
Here is one "www.cloncom.com/calling-cards/Mexico-from-USA%20-%20Continental-309-478". I don't know how good it is, it lists several companies to choose from. Your regular phone company has something similar, but the cost varies.

well, first f all, if it's a prepaid phone she has to have credit to recieve the call, because it's like taxes to accept the call since it's not within the country, second, I don't konw what part of Mexico she is but, the daling to a cellphone changed so you have to dial 1 after 52 and just the number after (044)but not 044. Now you have to use one of those prepaid card to call, because even when it sound cheap o.something cents a minute it's more expensive to dial dierect from your phone good luck ,

Does she have Internet access? because if so she should just set up a yahoo im account and use her PC as a phone its allot cheaper than using cell phones or phone cards,in fact that's what i did last year while staying in Mexico and it only cost 1 cent per minute to call the states and could receive calls no problem

dial the us code 4 international calls, then 52 (code 4 mex), and then the code of the state (55 in the case of mexico city) after this juss dial the 8 digit cell number. In sone cases she would not b able of receiving international calls if she doesnt have credit.

From a friend of mine, she is on a pre-paid plan on Telcel and she got charged cash for the phonecall when a friend from Los Angeles called her (she ended yp getting charged more cash than he for phoning her). Telcel charges you cash even for imaginary phonecalls, that's why I never wanted to use that service.

She will need credit to recieve the call. Another service called IUSACELL requires you to have credit to even read PM messages.

The cellphone number also varies with the region of Mexico the logic card of the phone was bought in. The 044 number is for phones in the Mexico City area, and 810 for phones from the Cancun area.

You have to use a mexico access code for cell phones (044). It would be something like this:
0-11-52-044.....then her state area code, followed by her call phone number. Here in Mexico, the person who calls is charged for the call, your daughter will not be charged. You best bet would be to call the operator, they can walk you through it. Good Luck!

You should contact your phone company to see if you are setup for international calling. A lot of phone companies do not automatically enable international calling. It could also be the same for her cell phone company.

Her plan probably covers calls within Mexico only,
not international calls.
