alot of people here and on the sports section of yahoo answers always seem to take their shots at the WWE and wrestling in general that it isn't a REAL sport. it pisses me off sometimes because most of them are just running their mouths and dont know a damn thing about what they're saying.

all real wrestling fans know that wrestling in some ways isnt real. its scripted and what not. but the moves and conditioning those athletes go through is the same as in football, baseball, basketball and hockey. these guys work every week of the year.

but getting to my point. i applaud the WWE in actually giving a DAMN about Our Troops over in Iraq. no other sports entertainment company or sport does this or even comes close to it. sure its only for a few days but it's something.

This is why i think the WWE is head and shoulders above other sport entertainment.

Good Job Vince and continue giving back to the fans.

Well I'm definitely not getting the best answer but I'll speak my mind anyways. The NFL often shows the troops in the middle of the game and mentions them on a day to day basis. I believe it was last week that for a pregame show, the entire studio was reserved for US troops. Baseball is similar to this and the NBA openly thanks the troops as well. The WWE does do a good job by actually going over there and performing but Vince doesn't do this for the fans. He does this for: Ratings, money, and self image. If Vince was all about the WWE fans, then in Green bay, the only time they've been there in 3 years, Vince would have booked Kennedy on the show. If Vince cared about his fans, Edge wouldn't have been a transitional champion and lose in his own TLC match in his home town. I can point out incident after incident that proves that Vince only cares about money and ratings and not about the fans. Why were Raw's ratings going down over the past year? Because Vince has alienated his core audience and started to market towards 12 year olds. Just look at it. A leprechaun???? A white rapper as champ??? a 5 foot 4 guy wins the title???? Hiring a guy from real world on MTV???? These aren't things that appeal to the audience that made him money, they appeal to the kids. I'm all for the WWE doing this for the troops but to say Vince is doing it just for the fans is stretching it.

I have watched every Tribute to the Troops episode of Monday Night Raw. I commend the WWE for actually GOING to the troops, and not via tape. You can see in the faces of these men and women how much they appeciate them showing up. I applaud Vince McMahon and his lineup of talented performers. Like a prior responder to this question stated, its a shame that the only time you ever hear about the WWE is when something goes wrong. My heart and applause go out to our fighting men and women overseas, you are the true heroes. Thank you. And thank WWE for giving us yet another reason to stay wrestling fans.

I can't argue those points. I'd say that the WWE are the most fan-committed athletes period. You don't see the Globe Trotters coming to Iraq to put on a B-Ball game, or Baseball teams coming over to put on games. Most sports superstars are too puffed up, whereas the WWE superstars are actual genuine human beings. You know the Iraq trip is optional, right? I mean, the Wrestlers and Diva's who go, they go under their own will, and may actually go without being paid, considering the venue in Iraq is free of charge. It's even more stand-up that Vince himself goes over and risks life and limb by just BEING there when he could be sitting in his tower safe and sound in Connetticuit.

Class act, those WWE guys.

Yeah its amazing that when Chris Benoit killed his family, it was all over the news and when Hulk Hogan's wife decided to divorce him the taboid t.v shows were all over it. But when Vince and the other superstars of the WWE went to Iraq, there was nothing on any news channel. I think it took a lot of compassion and pride for the WWE to show their support to the troops overseas

I completely agree. You're not going to see a Yankees game in Kuait. You're not going to see Brad Pitt hanging out with soldiers. However, these men & women of the WWE look foward to their yearly trip over to the warzone, so that they can pay tribute to our troops.

Forget giving a star rating to a match, because this whole tradition deserves * * * * *.

And not just well done Vince, well done to all those WWE superstars willing to condition theirselves for that kind of environment for the troops benefit.
Well done to everyone at the WWE.
