im 9 months pregnant right now and my throat has been feeling itchy and slightly burning. the last time it felt like that was in the summer when i was about 3 or 4 months pregnant. i remember the doctor told me i probably have strep throat and gave me some penicillin medicine, but then once i took that, i found out i was allergic to it. so what i ended up doing i think was just letting time pass by and dealing with it for about 2 months. it hurts bad and is really annoying. i have a feeling it's the exact same thing again but what can i do to help it feel better while i can? b/c tomorrow is xmas and everyone will be closed. so i cant go see a doctor about it til wednesday. what should i do til then? thanx

I'm wondering if you could have thrush, which is a fungal infection. It's also a sign that your immune system is not up to snuff. Call a 24 hr pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist to see if they have any thing over-the-counter you could use, or a home remedy, and ask for a remedy here on Y/A? There is a prescription drug you can take for it, but that will have to wait till after the holiday :( Good luck!

Popsicles were always my favorite for when I would have strep. I also was allergic to penicillin and so I just had things that would bring down the swelling and ease the itching. If it is strep you would also have a fever. Some Tylenol would bring it down, but follow the directions carefully and there should be no problems with baby! Also I have come to discover Cold-Eze. It's a kind of cough drop that boosts your vitamin c and zinc and such to help your immune system fight off the germs. You still have the cold but it's not as bad. Seeing your doctor again is a good idea and maybe he has some more ideas, but for the time being try that and maybe call a pharmacy to ask advice! Hope you feel better!

i am allergic to penicillin as well. the last time i had strep throat i bought popsicles and chloroseptic spray and sat on the couch.
i recommend some tylenol as well to kill any pain you may have. these methods wont hurt your baby either...good luck and i hope you fell better!
