Families of soldiers, long a reliable source of support for wartime presidents, disapprove of President Bush and his handling of the war in Iraq, with a majority concluding the invasion was not worth it, a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found.

The views point to dwindled support in the war's fifth year.

Can Bush look these soldiers in the eye?

Because they know first hand how Bush & Co. are just chickenhawks that couldn't care less about the troops and what they need and want. I've seen Bush walk into complete silence when he goes to the podium to speak to the troops--they have no respect for him.

Consider the source. The LA Times has been anti-Bush since 1994 when he ousted Ann Richards for the governorship of Texas.

You are always going to find families who are unhappy that their son or daughter are in harm's way. Just remember that our military is voluntary and the soldiers took an oath to serve no matter when or where. If they enlisted with the thought of just getting a paid education and not having to go to war, then they are there for the wrong reasons - too bad for them and their families.

*sigh*
You can not believe everything you read.
There is political bias in everything, from your local newspaper to the nightly world news. The owner of the news paper, magazine, or broadcast TV station, is the one who's opinion you are going to hear/see/read....
My husband has served in Korea, Iraq, and is currently in Afghanistan...and will continue to do so until he has completely served his country, as a devoted American. Not everything Bush has done has been the best decision, but he has done the best he could, with the information he was given. There is so much that is not made public, and makes all this quite amusing actually, because most people don't realize how much they just don't know... And I find it very interesting that all the Bush naysayers were probably the same people who cheered as Bush stood up and said we were not going to be terrorized and declared war....
It's quit easy & convienient to go with what is "trendy" in the political world, isn't it?

First, I would not trust the L A Times to throw water on a burning person. Any poll can be manipulated by the way the answers are worded or asked if not read by the respondent. It is like the Times to seek out malcontents and publish the results. And YES, Our Commander In Chief can look anyone in the eye and say that he did what he felt was right and he will continue doing so. And the military respects that.
