Huckabee is one of the most liberal Republicans in recent memory. What are journalists at the Times smoking?

Considering the other candidates Huckabee is definitely one of the most conservative Repubs in the 2008 presidential race and that is exactly what was written. The LA Times quote seems accurate.

Ah, Grasshopper....If there only was such a thing as the 'liberal' press. Not the re-defined definition hung on anyone not fully on board with the reactionary fascisti bozos that populate right wing talk radio, but some truely progressive publications that actually have the guts to tell the truth about just how far this Republic has drifted into the sleazy halfwit, dimwit, nitwit world of the Bush Junta. I don't know Huckabee from Adam's off ox, but I do know that the Republican party has moved light years from the middle of the road republicanism of Eisenhower, Nixon and Ford. This new or neo-conservative bunch of losers sure as hell ain't middle of anyone's road and that's why they have to be defeated, turned out and not allowed back in until they learn to behave. 'Liberal media' my.....anatomy....what a crock!

On social issues he is the most conservative out of the candidates running. And we all know it's how you come down on gay marriage and abortion that determine if you are conservative, not the antiquated notions of fiscal responsibility that conservatives gave up a long time ago.

Edit: You must be a Rush listener who is upset about what a supporter of Huckabee said about him. You guys championed the marriage of religion and politics for years but now your upset that the monster has a mind of it's own and won't play the usual corporate puppet. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Ann Coulters Nemesis called it, without even mentioning gay marriage and quarantining HIV/AIDS patients. Fast track to theocracy is how I think of Mike Huckabee.

Yes, but even better proof of the ignorance of liberals is found in many of the answers to this question.

Most democrats don't care who the most conservative republican candidate is.

Let's see, he's anti-choice, anti-gay marriage, was a southern baptist minister who happens to be white and want's prayer in school. And, he agrees with everything Bush has done so far. I'd say that makes him one of the most conservative candidates on the GOP running tickets during this season and the LA Times got it right.
