Since the FBi can do it, what about a hacker with the right equipment? Not cool.

It seems the FBI modified the phones in question either via downloading or physically and with a court order. . If you're not on the FBI's list, why worry about it. If you remove the battery, you might as well not have a phone. What's the point?

If the FBI gets a warrant to tap you then they can install a bug very easily anywhere else they choose to.

This is just anothjer example of something that was usefull being broadcast to the bad guys, thus making it easy for scum like the Genovese Family to avoid it.
