The only way this works is if you are using a monocyclic birth control (all one color of pills/not a tricycle with 3 colors). You didnt mention what type you use. If it is a monocyclic, you have to skip the placebo pills and use bc straight through for three months before you dont get a period if you are normal. For some people it works right away but for most people it takes a few months for your body to adjust.

Breakthrough bleeding (which can act a lot like a period but isn't) can occur when doing the pill continuously even for a short time because the body is trying to adjust to what is going on. Because it's not used to it the body will then force a bleed to occur and the first time it happens it can make one think they are having an actual period.

I had this happen to me several times after taking the pill continuously for medical problems.

Also, sometimes the particular pill may not have enough estrogen in it to make continuous pill use successful which can then cause the bleeding to occur.

I have the link to a site that may help you find even more information. The link is at: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health

This happened to me, except I had forgotten one pill earlier in the month. I ended up having my period for MUCH longer than normal, but the next month was fine.
