I agree with you. No contest. The Germans had a vastly superior industrial base, and their military, had they had adequate supplies and not been dictated to by Hitler, would have been unbeatable.
The primary reasons for their loosing the war, was the scarcity of raw materials and their deranged Fuhrer. He had gone completely bananas.

Neither. Those two nations were so widely separated it would have been years before they could have viewed each other as a threat. In a ground war, Japan would not have challenged Germany, they just didn't have the same grasp of armored warfare the Germans did. At sea the Japanese Navy made the Germans look like a yacht club. So it would have been a stalemate for a long time. And by the time they were thinking of starting a fight between them, they would both have been nuclear powers and it would have been the cold war. I think eventually the Germans would have beaten the Japanese the same way the US/Nato won the real cold war, money. Japan would likely have bankrupted herself trying to maintain their scattered Pacific holdings.

Won at what point? Not even half way through the war, the war was lost. Hitler was not a good military leader by anyone's standards. This is very apparent when he let the British escape from Dunkirk, let the Allies take Normandy when no one wanted to wake him from his nap. He cared too much for big guns, strange weapons, and other vehicles that played a very little role, if any, in the actual war. He also failed to realize the power of the STG 44 assault rifle, or the ME-262. This can be seen with the ships Bismark and Turpitz, two massive ships too large for there own good.
The war itself was lost when he made the mistake of invading Russia, failing to capture the oil fields in North Africa, and failing to overtake England by invasion. You see, he really was not a good military leader at all. He cared too much for his own goals than the actual war.
Japan was just as bad off. They were an island nation with their sights on the Pacific. They would never have the chance to attack German, mostly due to the fact the the largest nation on Earth was in their way: Russia. They were also very fanatical, and their military was very divided very bitterly.
Let me get back to the point of, if the Allies did lose and all that was left was the Germans and Japanese, who would win if they fought? Well, the first thing I said, 'Won at what point?' The German's air force was well taken care of by the middle of the war, and the Japanese Navy was done for as well.
In a hypothetical situation, I think the Germans would have won as well. They had their sights on the nuclear bomb, and had enough uranium to do so. Hey, the Americans were lucky enough to find the uranium from a German submarine just in time to make a bomb of are own. If we had not, things might be different.

How about Italy? The Axis also included Italy as well as some other smaller countries that also were on the Axis side.
There's a famous science-fiction book about an alternate history in which the Axis win WWII. They end up splitting the US in half; Japan gets the West Coast and Germany gets the East Coast. It's called "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick.
Japan was doing pretty well in Asia until the US got involved, and even then it was a struggle to beat 'em.
In contrast, there was no way Germany was going to win a two-front war, fighting Russia in the East and the US in the west. Hitler seriously underestimated Russia's ability to fight. You'd think he would've learned something from Napoleon, who was also defeated by the Russian winter!
If Germany had gotten The Bomb first, all bets would be off. Some people think they were pretty close to getting it.

,japan was beaten by America by herself and only giving them second billing.they were hopelessly over matched, period.By 1945 U.S. had over 130 aircraft carriers!!!
Germany would definitely "beat" japan in some fictitious war of the axis champs, but why would they want to.
BUT,in terms of Germany;it's becoming more common a belief that Germany could NOT of beaten Russia even one on one ! Russia is just too big, with too many people and too many resources. They didn't need our help, they tied down almost 90% of the german army anyways, inflicting over 80% of all german causulties.
As far as i have read the Germans were not even close to having a Abomb, yes, there was some limited research by a few germans;but offical Nazi goverment view was that it was "black science" because "jews" had poineered it.
just think "HOW" much america, with all the worlds BEST minds, took for them to overcome !its still considered one of mans greatest acomplishments.

even if the other members of the axis are included, it is still germany. at that time of war, germany have conquered more european countries so they have more raw materials and more money to spend for expeditions. germany have almost captured moscow if not because of the cold weather. even if japan use natural resources of southeast asia, germany will still won. the arms of germany are more superior compared to japan.
