...Then why do you have such a hard time listening to him ? I used to bash the guy. He is not a perfect candidate but get real people.......Watch one of his interviews (with Glenn Beck or Tim Russert) and tell me you want to hear more from Hillary or anyone else....A reminder...Watch a Ron Paul interview first.

Ron Paul is a genuine conservative.
I have watched his interviews. I admire his willingness to take an unpopular position and defend it with a common sense argument.
I agree with his belief that we must restore the Constitution.
I am troubled by his opinion that the Civil War and abolishen of slavery was not worth 600,000 American lives. He believes that slavery would have been eliminated gradually as it has been in most other nations. I respect his thought provoking opinion, but must disagree.
If slavery had not been abolished in the USA at that time, America would have faced an even greater catastrophe later. The argument is that it was a states rights issue. Would that argument have been solved gradually?
I think not. Slavery had not been abolished in the nearly 80 years between the Revolution and the Civil War. Where would we have been 80 years later, in the 1940s.
Paul argues that it would have been better for America to allow individual states to allow the enslavement of a race of people for possibly multiple generations to come.
I believe in states rights within the Constitution. But, that does not apply in the case of slavery, whether it be racial, gender or economical.
For that reason I will not support Ron Paul. He is the crabgrass that rationalizes the subjugation of humans.
I am convinced that if the Civil War had not happened and slavery was still legal in certain states, Paul would defend those states with the same exact argument he is using to condemn Lincoln's decisions today.

Hitler and Stalin were really patriotic too. I'm not trying to be spurious, but only pointing out that patriotism does not automatically make a person a good leader.

I believe he is convinced he is right. I thought he was a nut until I saw him last week on Glenn Beck. He is dead wrong with terrorism, but understands a lot of our problems.

He is driven by his neo-nazi ideals due to all of the monetary support he receives. I guess the answer is greed, power, and ego.

I have no idea what drives Ron Paul. I do know that he is a Libertarian and that a Libertarian philosphy would not be consistent with, compatible with or good for our country.
