This is the one time you can redo stuff you did as a child. Some do so because they have traditionally done so. If it amuses them and does no harm, why does it upset you so?

There has long been opposition to teaching children to believe in Santa Claus. Some Christians say the Santa tradition detracts from the religious origins and purpose of Christmas. Other critics feel that Santa Claus is an elaborate lie, and that it is unethical for parents to teach their children to believe in his existence. Still others oppose Santa Claus as a symbol of the commercialization of the Christmas holiday, or as an intrusion upon their own national traditions.

Its called the Christmas Spirit. Even before this became a Christian-themed holiday - the winter soltice was all about celebrating happiness and having fun. Everyone was happy because the days were getting longer again, and summer was on it's way. So smile, enjoy yourself, if pretending Santa really exists can bring a smile to one childs face - then do it. Don't be a grinch :)

It's for the kids. Obviously Santa isn't real, but we pretend to humor the kids!
