yes I get depressed - but not remembering departed family and friends - MISSING them. Remembering better times, yes, but also missing them.

this year has been a really rough one on me -- I lost my mother in law, my ex mother in law ( that I was still very close to), two Aunts, my best friend, and 3 of my beloved cats. Add in another heart attack and mix well - out comes one VERY depressed person.

Sometimes, Christmas music makes me want to cry. My Dad passed away about 2 1/2 years ago, and he and Mom were the center of all my Christmases. I know we are supposed to pick up the proverbial "flame" and carry on traditions, but I miss my Dad so very much. Mom's in an Alzheimers residence - I'll see her today. Sometimes, you can't "be home for Christmas", and my halls will, even decked, will never come close to theirs. My husband and 17 year old son aren't really into Christmas, so it's a little depressing for me.

It did after my father passed because it happened the week before Xmas. At the time I had been listening to a lot of Karen Carpenter's Christmas music. The following year Karen died and by that Christmas every time I heard her sing a Christmas tune...I found it to be
Yes...depressing. I loved her music and voice and her passing affected me in more ways than I realized.

Somehow yes, it the the time when one gets so emotional and sentimental really especially if they departed during or before or after these holidays.........but why get depressed and sad...so even listening to Christmas songs can be interpreted subjectively and relatively..just think they are already at peace and for every Christmas song heard or listened to..they will just become a beautiful past and instead relate each Christmas song in a very solemn and peaceful way..........this way , it will quiet or solemnized a sad heart!

The music itself does not depress me. Its the whole idea of the Christmas season that depresses me. I am a minority and the tinsel, mercantile hype, Hallmark cards, and everything associated with this time of year is just plain annoying. The only people who truly benefit from these holidays is the big box stores, the card outlets, Walmart and other gift stores. All Christians now seem to measure this holiday in terms of how much they can cram onto their credit cards, and not what the true meaning (to them) the holiday represents.

Only the really awful remixes of the classics. Not the ones done by new stars, but the ones with the original singers set to bizarre, techno beats.
Oh, and who ever told Willie Nelson he should record "Deck the Halls" should be severly thrashed with a cat o' nine made from guitar strings.

Yes,I suppose so,if you interchange sadness with depression.
It is kinda funny though. I can feel sad and hopeful at the same time, an odd mixture of emotions. Part of the magic of Christmas, I guess.

in spite of the certainty that it rather is an thrilling time for me..it is often somewhat unhappy yet for various motives than one you wrote. My mom gave up the ghost Dec. 20, 2003 and each year as Christmas procedures i think of roughly it. i'm excited b/c of the relatives it is right here and the affection we share, yet I continually will pass over my mom and those staggering Christmas seasons we shared! :)
