A) Living in a society where security is the upmost: children with tracking chips implanted, frequent military presence in residential areas, massive network of cameras and microphones, state databasing everyone's activities/health conditions/contacts/political affiliations, where police can deactivate your car, where government can freeze your bank accounts, and where there is 0% chance of any foriegn terrorist reaching you.

B) Living in a society where liberty is the upmost: Children can choose their path (literally and morally), Police would only respond if summoned, the state can only spy on people with court orders, private information would be confidential between you and your chosen establishment (bank/hospital), where you can come and go as you please: no questions asked. Where terrorists can also come and go as they please, and there IS a chance of you dying from a terrorist attack at virtually every moment.

Didn't Patrick Henry already answer this by saying give me liberty or give me death?

Just a little food for thought...

I would choose "B" but the problem is the conditions you outlined in "A" are exactly what the "Patriot Act" give the present government the RIGHT and ABILITY to do. Unless the "Patriot Act" is repealed or substantially changed it is what we WILL see within 10 years. I keep trying to get people to read the "Patriot Act", even to the point of begging them and most people just ignore my warnings. If it is not changed SOON we could become a dictatorship under the provisions written into it the way it is now.

EDIT
Thank you for asking what needs to be asked of every citizen of the USA.

So...would we prefer the terrorist be foreign or American? Is that what you're asking? And where is the terrorist threat in choice B) stemming from? What about such a society would provoke such hatred?
