here is no chance that the G-men will let their starters play more than a couple of series in week 17 against the Pats (only so they get some repetitions). I'll give you the three main reasons why Coughlin and the front office will want to treat this game as an exhibition :
1) Injuries. At this point in the season, with every reason not to play, there are some key pieces to this Giants team that need the time off before going to Tampa. Starters Plaxico Burress, Brandon Jacobs, Kareem McKenzie, Sinorice Moss, Justin Tuck, Gibril Wilson, James Butler and Antonio Pierce are dinged up in their own right. Its better to have these guys healthy and as close to 100% as possible in the first round of the playoffs than to have them risk injury in a meaningless game.
2) Confidence. The Giants are coming off a huge win in Buffalo, putting some energy back into the players all while discovering of a sleeper in Ahmad Bradshaw. Don't risk a loss to take some air out this teams' sails.
3) During the broadcast of the Giants game yesterday afternoon, Daryl "Moose" Johnson made a fantastic point. The Giants should not feel pressured to beat the the 15-0 Patriots in week 17. There were 15 other teams before the Giants that had the opportunity to win and failed.

I dont think they will. Sure they dont need to get banged up even more, but they dont want to lose a home game right before the playoffs to a team from Boston no less, and they want a shot to knock off the Patriots perfect season. They have not been playing great football, the last few weeks, so they have alot of work to do, if they plan to make it into the Superbowl, where they may face the Patriots again. Resting is not a great way to go into the playoffs for this team, a big win over the Patriots will do more for their confidence then resting their starters. Now if the game becomes a rout either way, then I would expect some players to sit.

Being professional and playing your best vs. their best is fine, however, one has to look at the long range scenerio. The Giants play the following week and the Patriots don't get started until January! Giants are without Shockey and their running game is banged up (Jacobs). Burress is hobbling and needs rest. Even at full strength, the Giants would be hard pressed to beat the Patriots. Rest your wounded and prepare for Tampa Bay!

Yes they should start them try to give New England their first loss. Be known as the team that up-ended the Patriots run. Be a hero to the Dolphin Organization
No hey rest your guys so that they will be ready for the first round of the playoffs. Why have a starter get hurt in a game that really means nothing to the organization. You are already in the playoffs and any true fan of yours will want you to have a successful run in the playoffs

The Giants have to think about their playoff run and they do not need to risk needless injuries, since the club does not receive a "bye" from first week action.
Teams have done this over the years and it makes sense...unfortunately, this situation is magnified tremendously due to the Patriots gunning for a perfect regular season.
Fines or sanctions would be difficult to mete out for a uniform rule....how about in blowout games or in contests where both teams are eliminated from playoff consideration; should the teams be "forced" to play starters.

I don't think that they should. This could be a good game to prepare for the Playoffs. A good task at hand. Maybe can get them in some type of rythem. I don't know...I just really think this can be a good game to prepare mentally for the playoffs..because of how good the Pats are. If they were playing like the dolphins or some other bad team..then I would say rest em.

I don't think they will completely rest them....
But they are pretty banged up and they don't have much of a chance to beat the Patriots...Better to go into the playoffs a little healthier than beat your head against the wall in a game that you can't win....
That said...They are a professional football team, and they will come to play and to win...It is just a matter of what happens during the game to change that.....

Most likely the Giants will let their starters in for a while and then put the subs in,no need to risk any more players getting hurt, especially if the game has no meaning to them

Knowing TC, because him coaching here in Jax he will do whatever he feels is in the best interest of the team to win in the tournament.
Maybe if the game is close (he always wants to win) going into the 2nd half he will play the starters thru the 3rd quater.

No they will not. Every team always wants to beat the unbeating. So they are going to play thier hearts out to be the only team to beat the Patriots just like the Ravens, Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles.
