Both have their respective pros and cons. I did almost exclusively theatre early in my career and during that time I thought that stage acting was harder. That changed when I moved into commercial/tv/film acting.

here is why:

1. You do not get ask many takes as you want in commercials/tv/film. There is a schedule and a budget. Generally, if you don't nail it in 4 or 5 takes (not including technical snafus) most of what you did will wind up on the cutting room floor or they will just let you look stupid or they will fire you and recast you. If any of the above happens often enough, your career will be very short.

2. You will be asked to shoot the scene from multiple camera angles. It is your job to match each performance for every angle. Sometimes they will shoot the same scene on two different days and it is your job to match your performance from the previous day.

3. You may shoot the last scene or an intense scene first, so no build up to that moment. It is your job to put yourself in that moment while noisy people are walking around you with duct tape, equipment, radios, etc.

4. You will work 12- 15 hours a day at all times of the day. You might wait in your trailer for 5 hours but then be called to deliver that intense scene at a moments notice. You better be ready.

5. There is no applause and no immediate gratification of your work. You will have no idea how well it went until and if it actually airs or screens.

They're both good, the difference is that stage acting you're in front of an audience and you only have one shot and with a film actor you'll most likely have a bigger impact on the audience because of the camera angles...
I'm currently studying film, but I REALLY REALLY love stage acting too, and I think they're both amazing!

Stage actor. In film, if you make a mistake or forget something it gets edited out. You can be filmed from your "best side".

On stage, there are no retakes. You mess up, it's there for the world to see.

Theres no right or wrong answe to this question.

Some people will prefer film. they like the publicity, money, retakes, cameras, angles, mikes, ect.

some people will prefer stage. the sets, the costumes, the connection to the audience, the blocking, mike checks.

its all a personal prefrance thing. the only way you'll find out which you'll like better is to try differnet things.

good luck and follow your dreams!

I like film acting cause in this generation, you can see yourself during a performance.

Theatre is basically the start, the "Old fashion" way. Theatre is more like a few months of hard work and then you have like to perform that about a month long or even more.

Film takes in different face aspects, voice and the detail is the most important thing.

Theatre is all about momentum, "faking" in front of an audience and detail isn't as important.
