Hawking or Susskind? Not saying that either one of them have it right, at this time but that more info will come over time. But which one seems to have a better handle on it at this time?

These sorts of exercises are intrinsically suspect because they attempt to treat an effect for which both General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics come into play, and the two theories are already known to be inconsistent in such cases. Even the existence of such a "basic" thing as Hawking radiation is only hypothetical at this time. To extrapolate further is pushin' it.
