1) John Lennon. Artistically he did the deepest stuff, and people gather at the Dakotas every year on the day he died to remember the message of peace. He was at the forefront of the free speech movement aswell.

2) Paul McCartney. He's still coming out with music, wings was pretty good. But he's been the beatles business man, giving the official stamp of approval to all of the other mediums that beatles music has been used for. He would have been number 1 had it not been for heather mills. a yoko unto herself

3) George Harrison. Musically just as talented as the first two, and if he were part of the original beatles brain trust, he would have been there.. He beats out ringo because he fought cancer for so long

4) Ringo.. star of many american express commercials. Not socially relevant. He is on the periphery of existence, famous only for being a Beatle, this is until his inevitable guest judging apearance on american Idol, since they can't afford to pay Paul... also of note is that he has lived past the age of 64

1. McCartney, based on his work with Wings....a fantastic group & his single, Give Ireland Back To The Irish
2. Lennon, his delving into avant-garde with the Plastic Ono Band was a true artist stretching the boundaries of music
3. Harrison, the legal woes with My Sweet Lord tarnishes what was a solid solo career
4. Starr, had some surprising solid singles in the 1970s, but could not sustain this success on the charts

John Lennon was the strongest, but (no offense) the Beatles were a little before my time, so I can't rank the rest.
