If you want to break away from the traditional greetings of "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Birthday", try the following.
1. Have a fabulous Christmas. I wish you the greatest joys over the New Year.
2. Best wishes for a wonderful birthday.
I think that maybe you were trying to keep the greetings to two words, but it makes more sense to extend them. You can say "Happy Christmas", but "Merry Birthday" just doesn't make sense.

just go with the Happy Birthday, he'll prefer that one plus a kiss it will make him very happy. my ex was bonr on 12 24 also
