You buy a car that gets 50 mpg!!!!! Bio-Diesel, a BMW Hydro 7 gets 120 miles per 1 thing of hydrogen! Smart car (seriously a car manufacture!), Drive your car at WAY slower speeds, if you drive 55 instead of 65-75 you will save a little bit of gas!

Buy a Geo Metro 3-cylinder. They get 48-52 MPG. You need a light car with a thrifty motor. They're few and far between. Try not be become the meat in a tractor trailer sandwich if you get a Metro, though.

Oh, did you really mean ON your car? Find someone with $150 dollars to blow, and have them pour it on the car....

You don't with any current gasoline engines, contrary to some Prius owners who tend to lie about their actual mileage.

But its possible with a VW TDI with upgraded European style injectors and higher fuel pressure to match the new injectors. This setup can get you into the high 50's on the freeway by driving with common sense.

Honda CRX, a very old Subaru, one with the EA71 1.6 liter pushrod engine or smaller (EA65, EA63) Toyota Echos and Paseos, possibly Tercels can get 50mpg. The most important thing is to drive in 5th gear (or whatever gear is your highest, forget about automatics) at 55mph or less behind a semi truck. At low speed with no wind resistance, you can get insanely high numbers that would give an oil baron a heart attack.

push it 25 miles or only drive down hill
you may get close to that in a normal car drafting a tractor trailer truck i would get a cb radio first so you can ask permission to the truck driver just curteousy though. tire pressure up fresh air filter can help. air conditioners these days are more efficient than windows down. accelerating slowly not tailgaiting also saves brake linings. rolling stops i like rolling stops a lot police do not like them so much and they dont take saving the planet as an excuse.

Only 50 miles? If you are stuck in traffic turn off the engine. Travel in the highest gear possible (if you have a manual gearbox) no fast take offs, keep it slow and even. make sure your car is serviced and that your tyre pressure is right for the load you have.

start with a diesel engine. a new one, not a old rattle clapper.

tall TALL gearing too. A diesel makes more torque and will like the lower RPM s at hiway speed.

What car do you have??

good aero dynamics will help on the hiway.

With gas? only in a hybrid will you get 50mpg.
