Which war are you talking about? If it's World War Two, soldiers seldom saw Army nurses unless they were seriously wounded or deathly ill. Not the sort of atmosphere conducive to romantic interests. Also, the women were officers and most of the soldiers they took care of were enlisted men - and fraternization between officer and enlisted man was strictly forbidden and if it happened, was dealt with harshly. The woman would be shipped back to the States immediately and given a discharge from the service, and the man could be fined, jailed, or sent to the worst of the fighting. The idea of soldiers dating their nurses makes for interesting movies and books - but said movies and books are fiction.

Almost never.
Nurses, if female, were always commissioned officers (Lieutenants in the Army Medical Corps, Ensigns in the Navy) and would NEVER be seen socializing with enlisted men. If they even chatted one up, an older officer would take them aside and tell them that enlisted men were not to be taken as anything but patients. A nurse could lose her commission if she fraternized with an enlisted man.
Oddly, male nurses were considered just ordinary soldiers, so they entered the service as Private Recruits (or Seaman Recruits) and had to do all the dirty jobs like KP, guard duty, "field day" (janitorial work) that all enlisted men do.

Yes it did happen. And it was limited to nurses. Military personell would "date" anyone that was willing, where ever they happened to be. But for the most part it was understood between the soldier and his sweetheart back home that things that happened at the front stayed at the front. With the constant fear and stress it was not a normal situation and some allowances had to be made.

I wouldn't doubt it. Granted not all of them but many did and still do. You have to look at it from their perspective. For the most part the life of a soldier is a predominately male environment and a very deadly one. So you can imagine many will jump at the opportunity for romantic and sexual liaisons with females being that the next chance may not happen for a very long time that is if they live to see it.

im not sure if "date" is the right word.... but yes, the military men definatly made love with the nurses, or any other woman they could find, even if they had wives or girl friends at home. woman in or around the army would have probably been "around the block" many times

You asked this question twice like you are surprised that people could be so immoral. Yes it was immoral but, if you were faced with the fact you may be dead any second you'd get sex any chance you had with any woman you could find.

Um, I'm guessing that doctors date nurses while their wives are home too.
