My brother married a lovely women last year, he made a very nice choice, but I am not sure if his wife made the right choice. Samil ( my brother) is very irrepsonisble, does not have a job that could really support a famly, but his wife is a lawyer so I guess that holds them sturdy. But she seems so nice, and I feel bad for her, my brother is an ok guy, I love him of course, but would have never chosen him for a partner in life. I can tell he will not help Stephanie ( his wife) she will end up doing all the work around the house, and it just looks like a sad life ahead for steph. They seem so happy together, I wouldn't want to ruin anything for them, but I just worry. And thats only have of the problem. 3 days ago, Steph was pronounced preganant! I am certain Samil is not ready for a child, he can barely take care of himself, let alone a child! He acts horrible around my kids and my kids, I can't picture himb being a good father! I am happy for them, and he seemed happy on the phone ..

But I just can't picture this going well. I don't want to make him feel that I don't trust him, but what should I do? Help!

And I know I should let him make his own decisions, he's a grown man, but I just worry for him. I'm not sure why.

Scspec, may I remind you that I am his brother, my mom raised him the same as she did me. Strict, and sweet. And I have turned out fine! I have 2 kids, I am a doctor, I have a wonderful wife! My life has turned out great! He has no excuse!

tell him this: you are my brother and i love and respect you. understand that what i am telling you is out of love and consern. not just for you but or your wife but for your future child. you need to get a job and stop being so iresponsable. when steph has this baby she wont be able to work. how will you get money then? get a good job and do work around the house. you can still goof off and have fun but you need to work and get your life on track. if not for yourself or for your wife then do it for your child.

Hm, don't take any advice I give to heart.

My sister's the same way, and despite being the younger brother, I help out all I can. That's really all you can do; be there for them, give them a shoulder to lean on when they need it, and hope for the best.

You sound like a good brother, though! He's lucky to have you!

You said it, he is a grown man and there is nothing you can do about it. It sounds as if he has been babied and has not had to accept responsibility before, perhaps his family has looked after him too much prior to this marriage. Even if that is not so, stay out of it, no one will thank you for butting in.....and they may get the idea (like I did) that you want to break up this marriage for reasons of your own.
