Most people that have bachelor's degrees in psychology do not actually work in the psychology field. With only a bachelor's degree, your career options are limited. Many individuals go into business, sales, or work for nonprofits. If you are interested in working in the field, it is not impossible. You can work in psychiatric inpatient hospitals, community mental health centers, therapeutic day cares, etc. I never got my Master's degree and worked before going back to grad school and during most of grad school with only a B.S. With my B.S., I worked at an adolescent group home as a youth counselor, in a community mental health center in a hospital/community reintegration program, and at a non-profit hospice as a program coordinator. Some of my friends with their B.A.'s and B.S.' in psychology worked in day cares, autism programs, and as psychiatric techs at psychiatric hospitals or wards.

The job market is more limited with a bachelor's degree. You are probably left trying to get a job in a nonprofit organization and/or state government agency such as the Department of Human Services. Or you can obtain a position in a residential facility or nursing home. If you are interested in Child Abuse and Neglect, then perhaps a job within the Department of Children and Family Services will be right for you. The only fall back to obtaining these types of jobs is that you are also competiting for them along with other bachelor level degrees such as Social Work, Sociology and Criminal Justice.

And I can tell you personally being an employee of the Department of Human Services, the pay is not that great but the rewards and benefits are very good. Some agencies, like mine, will allow you to flex your time and pursue your master's degree.
