Boy, there are a lot of answerers who don't know much grammar.
The verb "appreciate" is a transitive verb, one that MUST have an object:
"I would appreciate ^ if you could help me. Verb
Mistake: Omission of direct object
'Appreciate'is a transitive verb and therefore needs an object 'it':
'I would appreciate it if you could help me.
Also, you need to use "took" because this is a conditional sentence ( I WOULD appreciate it . . .),
and the if clause must have a past tense verb.

What if you said "If you would look through them and get back to me, I would appreciate it." Instead of "them" you can always name the thing, e.g., "the photographs", if it would help make your sentence clearer.

The second one... But i think it's better if you would use "take" vice "took"...
