My bearded dragon does not like to swim very much, she is about three years old, and i love her to death- but when she is swimming i get so scared because she acts like she's going to die in two inches of water! I put her in the bath to bathe her, and i keep my hands in there so she can climb on me if she gets TOO scared, and i get clawed REALLY bad... I know that not all bearded dragons like to swim, but SERIOUSLY! It's gotten to the point that i really hate to bathe her... What's up with this? How can i get her to like the water - or at least not think she's going to drown in it!
Any ideas...?

Use warm water only to the level of her shoulders. She needs to soak, not swim if she doesn't want to. Put a washcloth or towel on the bottom so she has something to grip onto. Some dragons love water, others don't, but it is very important for their hydration and shedding.

If you use a solid white sink basin or bath tub - include a "bath rock" for it to sit on. The white is often very confusing to reptiles. They see this as a huge void. There's nothing to reference space - no shoreline, no rocks, no nothing. Adding the rocks not only gives them something more secure to hold onto, but it gives them something to focus on and not look like a "nothing" that they may fall into...:-)

Make sure the water is in the 90-100 F range so the beardie doesn't get so cold it becomes lethargic and loses the ability to get out of the deep end - or hold it's head up.
