Most all of this sort of fradulant activity originates from Nigeria, where the laws are weak and the authorities are easily bribed. Little can be done to prevent it.

To be quite honest, for a poor country such as Nigeria, these internet scams are a major source of "hard-currency"(US dollar, UK pound etc) for their local economy. The officials there simply "look the other way"

About the best one can do is scambait the b@$^@#ds and have some fun in the process.

"So what is scambaiting? Well, put simply, you enter into a dialogue with scammers, simply to waste their time and resources. Whilst you are doing this, you will be helping to keep the scammers away from real potential victims and screwing around with the minds of deserving thieves."

"It doesn't matter if you are new to this sport or a hardened veteran; if you are wasting the time of a scammer, or frustrating them in any way well that's good enough for us, and we would welcome you to join with our now very large community."

Below is how I stopped receiving emails from scammers. In your case if you have not received a direct email, and they are on ebay & craigslist, then you will have to contact the webmaster for these websites.

I have excellent contacts in "Interpol", and these scam artist out of Nigeria use, every avenue that you could dream up to obtain your email & IP address.

The usual line is that their father was a high ranking Govt., official and left them a hugh some of money in an offshore bank. And they will give you say 25% comm., if you help them to tfr., the money out of their country into your bank account.

When they get your banking data, they wipe your account out. And ofcourse you get nothing and they have moved to another proxy to hide behind.

Example if you used a dating site, a large percentage of the pictures are fake, and the scam artist are not necessary all out of Nigeria. Many use, proxies, or are out of France, Canada, London, England and South Africa.

I reply back to these scam artist and let them believe that I am interested in their scam. And use my professional ability to out smart them out of the information I need to obtain all the additional data I need to turn them over to "Interpol", for arrest in the country where they reside. Plus I use the "full header with these scam artist as a starter to trace where the email originated.

My "interpol" contacts, have made so many arrest that I no longer receive one email from these scam artist. (These scam artist all know not to send me any more emails).
