I'm gonna say no, just because Tim Couch was taking HGH and he was STILL sorry as hell...

sgoldperson - I'm not sure if I should just tell you to BLOW ME, or give you a laundry list of reasons YOUR wrong... which do you prefer?

Kijana Carter blew out his knee, not the same thing. Couch had a couple decent years, considering how bad the team was. As for Rickey Williams, he was the second pick behind Couch, and the guy I wanted the browns to take. At least Couch didn't get suspended. Also, Couch had some injury problems. Bruce was a decent player, but did some stupid things off the field, and never worked hard enough to deserve that number 1 ranking, but also, that was a weak class. If I had to pick one, I would say Bruce, because he didn't really have injury problems. Most of the other number 1 busts had an injury or two or ten, and no one can predict that, and the players can't prevent it.

Well the 1992 #1 pick Steve Emtman was pretty bad. Ended up never doing anything due to knee injuries. By the colts. that year they had the #1 and #2 overall picks the #2 didnt make a huge impact either Quinten Coryatt

Hey Amart learn what you are talking about, better to keep your mouth shut and make them think you are a fool then open it and PROVE it. Couch WASN'T ON HGH WHEN HE WAS PLAYING. He got injured and was out of Football and THEN tried it.
Ryan Leaf WASN'T a number one, as a few have pointed out.

My #1 pick for WORSE would probably be David Carr. Remember how he was going to be GREAT once he left the Texans? Remember how Carolina was basically going to save his career and was going to PROVE he was a great QB? Yeah where was he when he got the chance with Carolina? It wasn't just the O-line, it was he wouldn't throw the ball away when he should have. I think people are stupid with Vick, yes he was a CRAPPY QB, BUT he put butts in the seat. In Atlanta you need someone that is "exciting" because you aren't getting as many TRUE fans, it is like Reggie Bush in New Orleans. Not every city gets the real fans.

I think that is a classic case of ANY QB pick being a bad one for a team that could not protect him. They needed some offensive linemen first. Tim did not get a fair chance, and he reacted badly to the situation, worsening everything around him including his reputation and name. It is a sad commentary on the idolization of one position. VERY few QBs can win the game by themselves. Maybe Joe Willie Namath on some of the bad Jets years, and Maybe Sonny Jurgensen or John Unitas could pick the other team apart, but mostly putting a rookie in the direct line of fire results in one ruined career and disappointed fans.

Ki Jana Carter was worse. Tim Couch would've been at least an average quarterback if he had any talent around him at all.

If you use this list, Aundray Bruce ('88), Steve Emtman ('92), and Kenneth Sims ('82) as well.
