Boxing in America is being replaced by MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Also there is a dramatic decline in African Americans interested in boxing. Those African Americans that would Box are now playing professional football and basketball. One of the downsides of Boxing is how athletes get paid. In Boxing athletes are paid per fight. Often there are fees that are associated with management, training and promotion. This means Boxers get far least than they planned and they don't get their money right away. Sometimes it could take up to 60 days before a Boxer gets paid. In other sports athletes are under contract and get paid on a regular basis. Also there are not a lot of fees associated with training and management. This is also why big fights often go awry. The negotiations for the boxer's pay out can be lengthy if the boxer feels he's not getting a fair deal. In foreign markets the pay is less but steadier. Therefore boxing is bigger in places like Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Eastern Europe and Russia. Still MMA is taking the world by storm is I don't see any slowing down in the foreseeable future.

Guess comprehension of a question is too much for TARZAN or the other ego of SWEET SANTA !! None of that gibberish was asked for, nor is boating and walking a sport.
To answer the question at hand, I would say football more popular, but the baseball players have the chance to make more money, because there is no salary caps or limits on spending.. Look at A Rod - 250,000,000 for 10 years???
Give me a break, nobody is worth that much money.

As of right now, I would definitely take football considering the NFL's big popularity and of course the obsession with NCAA football. :) The thing with the NFL is that there has not been many huge problems that have tested the NFL's integrity, except for Spygate and Michael Vick (even that was not the NFL's fault of course). Most importantly, the NFL has been able to bounce back from all of these events and others too. They do not have a problem steroids that much compared to baseball.

Football is more exciting. I would guess that it makes more money too with all of the marketing involved. Now they're slowly trying to make the transition from being able to watch games free to having to pay. Greedy F'ing bastards!

Before 1970, baseball. Since the strikes and how free agency destroyed competitive balance in MLB, now it is football.
When I was a kid, we talked about baseball in school all year round. By the time I got to college, football was the talk all year round.
Now football reigns.
