Junior Seau has played in the NFL for 16 seasons. He is not the linebacker he once was, but from the body work over his entire career, he's a Hall of Famer.

Just out of curiosity how long have you been watching football? Junior is in the twilight of his career. Junior has been in the NFL since 1990. You're comparing apples to oranges. Junior is a 12 time pro bowl linebacker, mostly with the San Diego Chargers. Junior is also a member of the NFL's all 1990's team. Junior, when he does retire will be a first ballot HOF. Look at his career stats and achievements before you go dissing him. You can never compare a rookie to a 16 year NFL veteran.

No way. Junior is an old school warrior. Three names that should be synonymous with over-rated: Brian Urlacher, Brian Bosworth (maybe the worst) and Bill Romanowski.
If he stays healthy and keeps his head screwed on straight, Patrick Willis is going to be a dominant factor, along the lines of a Lawrence Taylor or Ray Lewis. The kind that can and will take over a game.

perhaps as of now there are better linebackers, sure. Hall of fame credentials don't extract just one or two years worth of stats or how they played the game. It encompasses their entire football carreer. When Junior was a Charger, there weren't many better linebackers in the leage. He had 100% intensity for a full 60 minutes during games. He was a great tackler, run stuffer, pass defender, and qb hunter. I'd say those things are pretty much all that linebackers do. He may be getting long in the tooth now, but having played in the leage for what, 18 seasons now, I'd give him the nod for hall of fame

When he was with the chargers, I have never seen a better linebacker. He played college ball when Willis was born. He is still a good linebacker, but when he was in his prime, he was the best outside backer ever in the 4/3.

You must be too young to remember Seau when he was a Charger. One of the most intense, fastest, smartest LB's out there. He deserves to be in the hall of fame. I love this guy! Give him a little respect, he's still an integral part of the defense at 38 years old in a position that's got a short life expectancy.

junior seau is going to the hall of fame because of what he has done already...not what he has done this year...he is on the tail end of his career and sure, hes not as good as he used to be..

thats why you say hes "really not that good" because you heard about his glory days and compare that to what you have seen on tv this year..

patrick willis is a great linebacker but i guarantee you he would love to sit down with junior and pick his brain and listen and learn from all that wisdom..i hope this makes sense for you..just my thoughts, thanks for the question

Do you know that Junior had an extraordinary career with the Chargers before becoming a Pat?

Junior still performs at a high level.

No use comparing him to Patrick Willis..there is like a 15 year difference.

Umm...obviously you are too young to have watched the first 12-15 years of his 18 YEAR career! He is old now...but still comes up with big plays....just can't play every down. Now, Patrick Willis is beasting it.....but this is his rookie year....let him play for a couple before you compare him to those who came before. Simply put....Saeu was a force for over a decade. Just his Longevity (yep.....he started back when Favre did) should tell you what's up.
