I just hope she didn't make a ham like every year.

I really don't think telling her during Christmas dinner, when she is surrounded by other members of your family, is a good idea.
If she is a devout Christian, she will probably be quite upset.

You need to speak to her privately, a good time would be when the festivities are over.

Good Luck:))

FQ: Why should you change the team that you support, just because you have changed your religion?
What does one have to do with the other?

If you're converting, then you should ask your rabbi for advice, not a public forum.

Finding a rabbi to give (binding) answers to life's tricky situations is a requirement and benefit of being Jewish!

(I would hope the rabbi'd say "NO, not on Christmas", and then make himself available with all sorts of advice about how to negotiate this difficult transition in a way that maximizes the honor and dignity for all involved.)

Hi, I really don't think Christmas dinner is a good time. Maybe you should try after and talk with her alone. I thought about it one time since my boyfriend Zac is Jewish. I just stayed Roman Catholic. Is it your husband that is Jewish? Well, I wouldn't say to do it during christmas dinner maybe have a private talk with her afterwards.
Good Luck!

Mazel Tov...Christmas Schistmas, anytime is good. She's your mom, she should love you whatever the hell you decide you want to be.

If she cuts up, just tell her she gets to do Hannukah as well...two holidays in December for the price of one, its a good deal!l

It's spelt " l'chaim " by the way.

No, it's a very bad time. Christmas is still her holiday, so you should be respectful of that.
If there is ham, just politely say No Thanks. That will start her thinking.
Tell her another time, in a few days. And remind her that nothing else has changed and you still love her!

Mazal tov! Welcome to the Tribe!

It seems as good a time as any.

It's not like you are telling her you're gay or something that will ruin the entire day.
