Hi!
Me and my brother are planning a trip to Europe at the end of February/beginning of March. We are in our early twenties and are really interested in cultural experiences and sight seeing. Both of us only know English. We would also like to go somewhere that isn't freezing cold, preferably tending towards warmer weather. This is our first trip to Europe so we're kind of lost.
Does anyone have any suggestions for where we should go/what we should see?

Europe isn't as freezing cold as the United States, (if that's where you're from), so with a nice, winter jacket, all countries should be bearable! It's the drizzle and gloom that seems to set in the bones, and not the actual cold.

I would definitely visit Europe in March, because the weather has a tendency to do some strange things. Sometimes at the end of February and the beginning of March, there's mild, spring-like weather! With this type of weather, I would definitely go to London to see all the historical sites! Or I would go to the Netherlands and see the tulips!

The weather is very fickle. If you have the money and flexibility, and can plan a trip on short notice, I would make a list of things that you really want to see, (Big Ben, Madame Tussuad's, Eiffel Tour, Leaning Tour of Pisa....for example)...and then take a look at the weather report...and then fly immediately to the destination of your choice!

Mid-march is usually spring already, so you might get some nice weather. Personally however I would travel in April or May if I wanted to wear t-shirts and not sweaters.

Italy, Turkey and Southern Spain would be perfect in late March, don't know about February. February is still the winter season so most tourist travel to the Alps and other mountain ranges like the Dolomites for skiing.

Don't worry about the language, most people in the tourist industry speak fluent English.

You question is kind of broad, so I suggest looking around on the net on sites like http://www.lonelyplanet.com or http://wikitravel.org/en/Europe to get some ideas where you want to go and what you want to see.

I personally would suggest a trip to Andalusia (Moorish Spain) http://lexicorient.com/spain/index.htm or Istanbul http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com during this time.

February/March is a great time to visit Europe! because it's cheaper even some places could be colder but you just take prepared for that and enjoy a less crowdy Europe.

Sweden is wonderful but I fear you'll find it snowing. France, Spain, Germany are great and I suggest you carrying an umbrella just in case.

Enjoy your trip!!

In almost all of the bigger cities in western Europe English is commonly spoken in hotels, museums, and airports, as well as larger shops. Even taxi drivers know enough to get by.

Obviously, the more southern countries are warmer. Spain and Italy are good bets. I have never been to Portugal, but that might be nice too. Southern France is great; you can go from Nice to Monte Carlo and live it up. Enjoy!

PS Switzerland is awesome any time of year. Vienna is an amazing city if you like art and architecture.
