could you still use the email to check emails and stuff or is it completely banned?

It depends on the severity of the violation. They might take away e-mail as well.

I had one account suspended. But I still have my emailing abilities on it.

Are you preparing to get suspended? You want to rant? to say a dirty word to someone? Whatever, you won't get your email suspended.
