New York Penpal?
Hi I am after a penpal from New York as we are studying the city at school. I really do not want to meet anyone over the internet as I have heard of some bad incidents from other people. But I was wondering if anyone alse could suggest any ideas of how to get in contact with someone?? I am a 14 year old girl and I live in New Zealand. Maybe through a school or something i'm not sure any ideas???Does anyone living in New York know a good school I could ask???And would the school think it was weird if some random from the other side of the world just emailed them and asked for a penpal?

PS : I have already asked my teacher if she could put me on to someone but she said it was not something our school did or something like that.

It might be easier to get on a bulletin board for a subject you like (hiking, crafts, shopping, pets, etc.) and asking that way. Pick small bulletin boards, they're better able to be policed by the group you're talking to, not a huge one like yahooanswers. You don't want anyone weird contacting you.

If your school isn't into that, and you don't want to try the smaller boards, ask around with the people you know and trust, to see if they know of any relatives or friends they have who you can contact in other areas of the world.

You can also try google.com searching under the words 'school pen pal programs', which may turn up what you want.

For instance--- http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=new+york+school+pen+pal+program

Your best bet would be to use an online penpal thing, there are a lot of legit ones out there but yes people can trick you. You could try contacting a school in New York, I don't think they would mind setting you up with a penpal. Lots of schools have their own websites so you could email an administrator of a school in New York and have them help you. Just Google New York Schools or something like that.

Ask your instructor and stay off the information superhighway. There are PenPal golf equipment in the process the colleges. That way you be responsive to you're conversing to a real guy or woman who's approximately your age. in case you request some 14 365 days previous woman on the information superhighway, you will get an answer from a bare 50 365 days previous fat bald bare guy sitting at a keyboard pretending to be a 14 365 days previous woman.

Not at all. You would address it:

Any High School
City, Area of New Zealand, zip code

The postal service of New Zealand would be forced to deliver it to the nearest school in the area that you addressed on the envelope. Just do some research on the area before you mail it out.

No I don't think it's weird. It's great that you're doing this, just be real careful though.
New Zealand is absolutely gorgeous, I lived there for a little over two years.
