The fact you started with "don't hate me" tells me you already know the answer to your question.

Legal or not, it's an amazingly bad idea. A lot can happen in five minutes; the baby could choke on something, or someone could run into your car, or (God willing) a cop will drive by. Besides, it's very easy for five minutes to turn into ten, fifteen, twenty... I know this sounds rude but if you're foolish enough to leave the baby alone in the car, you're foolish enough to get distracted and take far longer than you thought.

Of course not. Don't be ridiculous. It was only 5 minutes.
Anyway, there are a lot of babys but a good cup of coffee is hard to find.

Is coffee really worth it if something happens? About 2 weeks ago a guy pulled up to drop off movies in the drop box and had his car taken by a homeless girl who wanted a place to stay. The guy's kid and dog were in the back seat. She said she was sitting there waiting for someone to do that. Everything turned out ok, the dumbass got his kid, dog and car back. Again I ask you, is coffee really worth it to leave your kid, alone, in a car?

It isn't illegal but It could be a risk that isn't worth taking and you have to be looking out for what will happen at all times , if it were me i wouldn't do it it isn't very safe, you hear all the time of young children dying because they were left in the car without an adult while the adult is in a store talking to someone and has forgotten about the child.

its perfectly legal to be real stupid.......
new baby eh? take it from someone who knows,,,,those "just run in and out of the store" trips are over, at least until the child is old enough to stay home or in the car alone. you're flirting with disaster, and if you keep doing it you might have a serious problem, and for what......your cup of coffee?.......try living the rest of your life with that.

NO, don't, I placed my two year old on his car seat and while I went around to get into my seat and he actually pushed the lock on the car and the whole thing locked, then he started crying (the keys where inside) I almost had a panic attack and called the police who where able to jimmy my door open, kids do the darnest things!

yes you should never leave a baby alone, yet alone in a car. you can be looking at jail time. your baby being taking away or someone kid naping the baby. plus it is moraly wrong. For just thinking of something like this you sound like a awful father, you need to take some parnet classes

It is highly illegal to leave a child unattended in an automobile, for that matter it is illegal in most states to leave a dog unattended in a car... There have been several cases where a parent has left children in cars to run in to play video poker "for just a min." and the child has died from heat stroke...Granted these were extremely stupid ppl. but it certainly caught the attention of lawmakers and I for one am glad. please don't leave your child alone for just a minute

a lady did that at a gas station once.... just for 5 mins she ran in to pay for gas and came right back only to find her window busted and the baby gone, along w/ various other things missing.. but i guess its just about how much you love your child. personally i wouldnt ever leave my child alone for more than one second, they will get to an age one day where its safe to leave them momentarilly but not as a baby.

I would guess it is illegal. It's illegal to do so many things these days. It's a miracle if you don't get your kids taken away when state statue won't even let you spank your own kid! And then the state wonders what happened when the kid grows up with no authority.
