from the time a movie gets done filimg, how long does it take to be relesed in theathers, like the editing and all that. And im talking about a normal movie like a comedy or romance.

If a movie is not too techy, requiring a lot of post-production creation and editing, it could take only a couple months.
But there are a lot of variables, not the least of which is the budget the director has to work with.
For an example of a low budget production from can to screen, watch any of Ed Wood's movies or Johnny Depp's portrayal of "Ed Wood." (which was a good movie by the way)
Some the real techy films could take a year or more in post-production.

I'm not an expert on this, but between one and two years. I've seen four years too. And one time, never heard or saw anything about the movie ever again. That was way back in the 70s. Guess it just got shelved someplace.

Editing takes about three months, if they work really fast on a tight deadline to get the film out.
I remember when Tom Cruise made War of the Worlds....I went to see him working on the film on location....they spent a few months editing it and it was out in theaters really fast.
