Its the way the valve system works, I had that problem too. Try mixing the formula in a separate pitcher (about enough for a day at a time) then just add it to the bottle for each feeding and you won't have to shake it.

It says in the directions NOT to shake it or mix formula in the bottles. I have to use a different bottle for mixing/shaking. Once it has sat for a few mins (until the bubbles disappear) I pour it into the dr. brown bottles.

You are not suppose to shake those bottles. I am have them myself and I make a pitcher of formula by mixing enough water and formula for the whole pitcher and then stir it up with a wisk and then pour it into the bottles. The directions tell you not to shake the bottles for that reason and also to minimize air bubbles.

Where are they leaking from? The Nipple? If so, maybe get new nipples.
