The green dot signifies helmets equipped with explosive devises. If a team starts losing by too much they are detonated. The bonus is they can try and take a member of the other team with them (which is why they can only have one of those helmets on the field at a time).
I think you just brought it over the one million mark...

Helmets with the green dot have been fumigated for cockroaches by the Green Dot Bug Company,the dot on the helmets shows the date when it was done

It was a rule put in place by the NFL this season. The rule states that only one player can be able to communicate with their sideline via microphone. Before every game, the helmets are inspected by the NFL for communication devices. The green dot is placed on the helmet to ensure that no team can break the rule.
