you will have to notify the bank well in advance

your first step is to contact the branch manager and they will have you complete some paperwork because anyone withdrawing or depositing 10K or more will have some info to fill out

after you notify the bank, the manager will schedule a date for the Feds to bring the money to that office

The bank has at least $500,000, but not necessarily in cash at your branch. They might need a few days to have the armored truck bring it over from another location.

Also, because it is Christmas Eve and after the end of the hours that they are required by law to be open, they might have already locked the vault for the holiday. If that is the case, then no large cash transactions are possible until December 26.

For everyone's safety, banks don't keep anywhere near that much cash on hand. If you need to make a cash withdraw in that amount, notify the branch manager a week in advance and arrangements can be made. Note, having $500,000 in cash on you is one of the top 5 worst ideas I can think of.

If you need a cash withdrawl of that size you'll have to schedule it in advance with the bank. Very few banks have that much cash on hand for what should be obvious security reasons.

Also, be prepared to be grilled on why you want that much money in cash. Again, security and crime deterrent reasons are behind that.

Don't forget that that much cash weighs about 15 pounds if it's all in $100 bills. You'll need a decent sized case to carry it (a briefcase won't cut it) and probably an armed escort as well.

Anyone with $500,000 would never ask that question.

Sounds like you're planning a robbery. You won't get anywhere near that amount.
