Having a loaded gun in your hand every time someone says boo is a sure fire way of killing someone either accidentally or on purpose. John White needs to do some time.

Even if White's acquitted,I'd bet he wishes he'd left that gun in storage. Just think of all the time away from home and the expense of legal counsel.

Both White and the teenage victim were manipulated into action by a hoax Internet communication - a friend of White's son (without his knowledge) had used his online account to send false information that incited the victim to move into action.
The shooting could have been avoided if both sides had been patient and communicated to see what the facts were before before taking further steps.
The victim was wrong in making threatening phone calls to White's family and showing up w/friends at his house, thus causing White to prepare to defend his household.
When White first received the threatening phone calls with the message that his house would soon have possibly dangerous visitors then he should have called police and stayed in his house until police arrived.

We had a guy here in Texas blow away two out of three men who broke into his neighbors house and robbed him. He had called 911 and was on the phone with them. When the cops didn't show he told the 911 operator he wasn't going to let them get away with his neighbors property. The 911 operator told him not to go out side then he did and got two with a shotgun. The tape was played on a radio station and out of 40 callers not one condemned him. Most said, "give him a medal" or, "we need more neighbors like him". The cops are charging him with homicide but I seriously doubt if a jury will ever convict him. Too many people think they can rip someone off or trample over their property and the cops don't help with being more concerned with the right of the criminals than those of the victims. You step on my property and start what looks to me like a mob riot then you better pray the cops come real soon, to protect your @ss.

If this goes to the state supreme court you can see a mistrial and White's release ordered immediately.
It was a hung jury but then I don't know the whole gist of the shooting nor any proponderance of the evidence.

Can't be sure unless he felt his life was in danger. Age has nothing to do with it. If a mob meets in my yard they are doing it at their own risk. Color has nothing to do with it.

It says "he feared a "lynch mob" had come to attack his family when a group of angry white teenagers gathered outside his home". What would you do?!?

if those kids didn't want to get shot at, then they shouldn't have gone round that house in a mob. that gets my goat- anyone that commits a crime knowingly , and in the course of it, gets injured, they have noone to blame but themselves.
