I live in Houston, FYI, & hate it.

Eww please don't point this poor woman towards Florida. I moved from there five years ago and won't even go back to visit!

What sort of info are you looking for? For jobs you can look at the Seattle Times http://www.seattletimes.com, http://www.monster.com or http://www.hotjobs.com For apartments http://rent.com is very helpful - I used that one to find my first place here. Let us know what particular things you want to find out about and we can give you a better response.

There's several really good books out about relocating to Seattle. This is the one I bought - http://www.amazon.com/Relocating-Seattle-Surrounding-Areas-Everything/dp/0761525688/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1198576510&sr=8-2 is really great. Gives profiles for the different neighbourhoods of Seattle and surrounding cities, links to area-related sites, addresses to banks, etc. Here's another one - http://www.amazon.com/Newcomers-Handbook-Seattle-Including-Bellevue/dp/0912301511/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1198576586&sr=8-1

Good luck and come on out! It's wonderful here! :)

I really like Craigslist and Yahoo groups. You can find so much there. I'm guessing you know you can find jobs, rentals, forums, and everything on both sites, right?

Our craigslist is Seattle.Craigslist.org

The previous posting with all the recommended sites is good, too. City Search and "googling" are great ways to find out more about a place you want to go to.

If you would rather live south of Seattle, I know several real estate agents and mortgage brokers I could set you up with.

Not sure why you hate Houston, but Seattle is just horrid!!! I moved here from Dallas and yikes. It rains for days on end, summer, winter, no matter. Very rarely is there a day with no rain. The people tend to be cold and standoffish, not friendly like in TX. Do yourself a favor and DON'T make the mistake I did. Stay in TX!

So you want to move to a city with warm weather to rain just about everyday? I live near Seattle and I used to live in Ca., it rains and rains and rains and rains and sometimes never stops! It even rained in the summer! God! It gets old a depressing. See if you can move to San Diego. I loved it there and it's beautiful but a lot of traffic and people. Cost a little more but no worse than Seattle.
