Will an Intro to calculus be sufficient or will I need to take a 1st year and 2nd year calculus in university?

It depends on where you go for your MBA. Most schools will require integral calculus these days. I don't think anyone will ask or more than that.

I'm with Adam S. You don't need the technical skills of calculus to get into an MBA program, as the math you do (both for the GMAT and in class) is largely algebra. I took 2 semesters of calc (one in H.S. and one in college), and I never used it after that.

But...that having been said....
Competitive programs will want to see that you've maxed out your course offerings in your field of study in college. So be intelligent about the courses you choose. If your major suggests you take a math course, don't take the easy way out. Same with other disciplines.

And all THAT having been said....make sure you know the math that is on the GMAT when you take it. The math is not hard but the test is timed.

Basic calculus 1 knowledge is helpful, but not required, for MBA work. Algebra and statistics are much more important.

Unless you want to do finance, just a very basic knowledge of calculus is needed.
