dont rely on MAC filtering alone.
for best safety use wpa.
choose wpa (maybe it called wpa-psk on your router)on your router, choose a passphrase for it, do the same at your PC, and thats it.

If you have a wireless Router turn WEP on or what ever type security protocol your router uses. Go into your router, then go to the wireless section and setup a password. Then anyone wanting to access your network wirelessly will have to have the password, or be locked out.

Set up wireless encryption in the wireless security configuration page of your router. Check the router manual for details.

You should access your router configuration and then apply security e.g. WEP or WPA. Once you apply security a key will be generated or you are asked a passphrase. Make a note of it. Then connect to Notebook. You will be asked for key or passphrase. Only those users will be connected to your router who enter key or passphrase

Get the instructions on-line for your particular brand of router and follow them because it varies from brand to brand.
What you want to do is set up encryption on your router or lock it down so only you or someone who has your permission can use it.

you could secure it so anyone who wanted to use it would need to know its password. It depends on what kind of router you have. Go to a radioshack or circuit city or where ever you bought it and ask for help

There is several ways to do this. You can use WEP or WPA encryption...which is good, but if you really want to lock it down you can use MAC exclusion and turn off ssid broadcasting.....your best bet is to use MAC exclusion, especially if its only one computer.
