Children in America began leaving cookies and milk for Old St. Nick about the time of the Great Depression. Parents wanted to encourage sharing in hard times, and besides, Santa got very hungry making deliveries all over the world.

Because I can't be bothered cooking for him, I could order a pizza if he likes but don't ask me to make tabouli on Christmas Eve.

we leave cookies out for him so that his pants wont fall down! lol jk I think it is to show how much you care about santa. And the milk is to wash down the cookies. We leave carrots out for the reindeer too though so they dont get left out. sometimes we also leave egg nog out for him, just for something different.

We left him carrot sticks one year. XD
I'm sure he gets tired of milk and cookies. It's a good idea to mix it up!
