I am finnished writing a pretty good length book. It is kind of Da Vinci code esque... if thats even a word. Mystery/thriller/historical fiction, containing a lot of fact.
How do I go about getting it published? could someone please walk me through the process?

Thanks.

Well, it better be gramatically correct because the first preson to read it will be a college intern who thinks they can write and they've had 6 years of English grammar under their belts.

After 20 wrong commas they will return the book to you becaue they cannot spend time and money fixing up your grammar.

If they like it they pass it to someone with a Masters Degree in English and 12 years publishing experience to read.

So once you have it totally perfect (enough to get an A- from your English teacher) you print out copies double spaced, single sided and start submitting to agents and book publishers who take open submissions.

Get the Writer's Digest 2008 Marketplace book, now on sale at Border and Barnes and Noble, probably up to $50 by now.

It is impossible to send it directly to a publisher. Publishers will not accept book manuscripts that come in "over the transom."

You can try to get a literary agent interested, and if you can get a literary agent interested then you have a reasonably good chance that your agent will find a publisher for your book.

Type "literary agent" into Yahoo Search and you will find the website for the literary agent profession. Look for the listing of members and write, email or call a few to see if they are interested.

Another alternative is to self-publish through companies Amazon or iUniverse. They will help you publish and market your book for a fee.

I highly recommend checking out the classified section of Poets and Writers Magazine at www.pw.org.

The magazine can be read for free at the website, and they always have editors looking for new voices. The classifieds also state what type of material they are looking for, versus having to take a shot in the dark at every publisher on the block.

I am only guessing but....

I think you have to contact a publisher and if they like your book/idea then they will publish it?
