I want to be able to buy perishables and we are flying in and I don't think we will be renting a car.
I would like to buy yogurt, milk, and stuff for sandwiches.
Anywhere within say maybe a mile of that area?

I agree its definitely too big.
I just found a transportation service that allows you to stop at a grocery store for 30 minutes. It will work out good.
Thanks though.

You can buy a lot of things at your resort's gift shop. You can also go to Garden Grocer on the web and place your order, pay online and they will deliver right to your room. We did that and it worked out well. Good luck and have a great vacation.

Disney World is HUGE!!! Nothing is within walking distance. The bus stops are barely within walking distance. You walk about 13 miles a day in the parks. All the resorts have a convenience store...you will pay a premium price however. Disney is just not a cheap place. People have a hard time grasping this. I have heard of people actually packing a box of non-perishable foods and shipping to their hotel to arrive a day or two before they do. This is probably your best bet to save on meals.

Your idea of stocking up on your way to "campus" is the best idea. Each of the "A" and "B" hotels also has a sort of convenience store area in the gift shop where sodas, snacks, breads, etc, are much more reasonably priced than at the hotel or theme park snack bars. If you need a more extensive selection, the Fort Wilderness Campground has a small grocery and sundry store, but be prepared to pay for the convenient location.
If you are sort to trouble with it, then get a room with fridge, freezer, & microwave and stock up on breakfast and lunch items, especially stuff like meal bars that you can take to the parks. Food prices within the parks are sky high. You can easily spend $20 per day per person just for drinks, and I don't mean booze. You probably won't want to deal with anything more complicated than lunchmeat sandwiches or microwave convenience foods -- maybe breakfast cereal out of paper bowls.

Sounds like you have an answer to your question but just in case...if you are staying at one of the home away from home type villas they will purchase whatever you wish you actually make a list and just let the resort know-normally it will just be charged to the room.
